Spring Wardrobe Updates 2024

Updated: Apr 3

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a fun and relaxing Easter weekend and enjoyed some delicious food and chocolate eggs. I’ve been meaning to start a blog for a while, so here is my first one. Hope you enjoy!

I thought I would share a few ideas of seasonal trends and easy options to add a quick refresh to everyday styling. As a stylist, I definitely don’t recommend you follow all of the fashion trends but it’s always nice to add a couple of new pieces that elevate your look and keep you up to date rather than feeling frumpy and dated.

The striped shirt

A spring classic.  Until recently I have always struggled to find a striped shirt that I feel comfortable in and that works for me. I’ve realised that, for me, it’s the fabric that is the deal-breaker. I feel so restricted in a 100% crisp cotton shirt so have hunted for a cotton blend. Do you know what works for you?

Here are a few options:

The trench

The trench look for this season is cropped, so this is an easy way to keep your look up to date. If you would rather buy once and have a trench that never dates, go for a classic full length look that you will wear forever, especially in all the rain we have to endure in the UK!

Here are some others you might like to try:

Pops of colour

With Peach Fuzz being Pantone’s colour of the year, expect to see this colour on the high street. I love these square scarves by mango which would be a versatile way to add some peach to your outfit - style as a hair tie, belt or necktie.

A few more easy ways to add peach:

Red and pink colour pops

These are still big this season, so consider adding a splash into your wardrobe for an instant easy update.

Navy trench, Boden bag - previous season

Tonal shades of blue are also big this season

Why not try a suit for an up to date alternative occasion wear. This one from Sosander is beautiful. Pair with a bag and shoes in a different shade of blue to achieve the tonal look.

Structured tailoring

Suits, high waisted wide leg trousers and waistcoats are big again this season. I won’t be going down the full suit route personally, but rather wearing a blazer and wideleg trousers as separates to fit my lifestyle. Check that trousers skim just above the floor.  Being petite I always have some wonderweb to hand! There are some beautiful suits on the high street and such choice in gorgeous waistcoats.  If they work for your body shape and lifestyle I would definitely give them a go!

These wide leg trousers at Uniqlo are great. Next and M&S are really good if you need to try different lengths. These petite pinstripe trousers are lovely. If you prefer more relaxed tailoring why not try a printed co-ord such as this one from George at Asda- great for holidays as there are many different ways to style it

Denim update

Wideleg, barrel and flares are everywhere.  If you only buy 1 new thing this season I would definitely suggest a jeans update. Skinny jeans are well and truly out unless worn with wellies for dog walking or knee high boots in colder weather. Getting the right fit and style for your body is key - give me a shout if you need any help!

Levi’s rib cage have a flattering fit

Try H&M for wide leg jeans or these M&S flares look great too.

Metallics

Gold foil spot blouse, past season, Tu.

Gold slingbacks, ASOS

Metallics are still en vogue, so if you bought into the metallic jeans trend in autumn, just pair with a cream or white jacket, silver or gold bag and shoes and you’re good to go.

Stylish flats

Isn’t it great that flats are “in” and we can all look stylish and have heavenly feet!  Obviously trainers will always be a go-to for running daily errands, but if you want a quick stylish update consider loafers, ballet flats and Mary Jane’s.

I’ve really enjoyed putting this together. I hope it gives you some ideas and inspiration. If you style items in different ways, you can buy things to wear everyday rather than saving for an occasion. If you would like any help updating your wardrobe or help putting an outfit together drop me a message.  If you want to know what colours work best for your skin tone or how to use colour to make you look your best I’m happy to help.

Until next time, thanks for reading.
